Orion Labs: Reinventing ‘Push to Talk’ to Disrupt the Enterprise with Voice Technology

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Nextel made a mint on simple ‘push to talk’ (PTT) walkie-talkie functionality, but its PTT offerings have languished since Sprint acquired the company.

To fill this void, Orion Labs is reinventing PTT for the digital era with its dead-simple Onyx device: a small, clip-on Bluetooth device that pairs with a smartphone to deliver PTT functionality.

However, this consumer-oriented device is but the tip of the iceberg for Orion. In reality, the company offers a voice-driven enterprise collaboration and workflow platform that can augment simple PTT with a wide range of enterprise-level functionality, including real-time voice translation, end-to-end FIPS-compliant encryption, and global GPS-based location awareness.

Orion Labs also supports today’s voice-driven AI technologies like Amazon Alexa, Microsoft Cortana, and Apple Siri, freeing such controls from tethered devices like the Amazon Echo. Orion can thus bring voice-based AI interactions to field personnel, retail staff, and public safety personnel, as well as everyone else in the organization.
