Interana: An Event Data Platform Enabling Organizations to Unveil and Deconstruct Customer Interactions

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

The modern customer journey is now a digitally-enabled one. As customers interact with an organization, they create a long series of small moments of engagement — or events — that are captured in various software applications. Event data platform, Interana, believes that these events are the key to helping organizations develop better products, create better customer experiences, and uncover business growth opportunities.

To realize the value of this customer event data, however, Interana realized that organizations must be able to make it readily and easily available to any employee that can use it. The company’s platform, therefore, enables business users to ask native language questions about customer experiences and journeys — even when the event data is measured in trillions of events.

To accomplish this, the company uses what it calls a single-pass architecture and linear scaling to ingest data (either streaming or imported), time-stamp it, and index it in-flight. The result is a fast and highly-scalable event data platform that enables organizations to do things like user interaction tracking, on-the-fly behavioral segmentation, and mass customization — on a per-interaction basis. This data helps users across the organization develop new products, improve existing products, improve individual customer experiences, improve operations and quality, and identify long-term interaction trends.
