The combination of the numerous instance types and configuration options in AWS results in over 200,000 distinct services, or ‘SKUs’ – not to mention the various options from Azure and GCP. For enterprises with substantial cloud-first strategies, their cloud bill from one of these public cloud providers might have hundreds of millions of individual billed items, each one reflecting one of these SKUs.
