When we last spoke with Cloudian in October 2017, it was positioning its AWS S3-compatible object storage technology as a backup alternative, especially to replace tape backup.
Today, replacing tape is only a tiny part of Cloudian’s story. Instead, it is now emphasizing its ability to provide S3-compatible object and file storage that complements AWS’s S3 offering.
In fact, Cloudian is even partnering with AWS, as the cloud provider sees Cloudian as its entry into on-premises S3-compatible storage, an essential building block to its enterprise hybrid IT strategy.
