Cloudian: Making sense of hybrid cloud capacity choices

CloudianAn Intellyx BrainCandy Update

Since the dawn of cloud computing, companies have waffled on the border between migrating on-prem data and workloads to the cloud for scale, performance and cost reasons, or repatriating them to on-prem resources for a different set of scale, performance and cost reasons.

Cloudian was early to market with object storage in the cloud and managing application data and backups in S3 buckets before such things were commonplace. Since our previous coverage of them in 2019, the firm has expanded its AWS storage bona fides with turnkey ways to manage resilient storage in on-prem and colocated resources (they also happen to be one of the first adopters of AWS Outpost facilities).

This makes Cloudian an ideal partner for other leading data protection firms like Veeam and cloud data warehouse vendors, as they help smooth the gaps of hybrid cloud strategies for a variety of enterprise use cases, from ransomware protection and disaster recovery, to compliance initiatives and analytics data estate modernization.
