An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
When I last wrote about Splice Machine in October 2016, the SQL database vendor’s core differentiator was its ability to support both transactional and analytical processing, what the industry calls a Lambda Architecture.
This architecture remains at the core of the Splice Machine offering, but now it also supports machine learning on the platform. As a result, data scientists can run experiments where the data reside, reducing the cost and latency challenges of data gravity.
Splice Machine has always offered a scale-out, cloud-centric architecture based on Spark as well. More recently, the company has also added support for Kubernetes, enabling seamless provisioning of Kubernetes clusters and allocation of data processing and machine learning capabilities to those clusters.
