Buoyant: Linkerd Service Mesh for Multi-Cluster Kubernetes

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

When we spoke to Buoyant in July 2017, it was heads down building Linkerd, an open source service mesh that provides a uniform layer of instrumentation and control across microservices running in containers on Kubernetes.

Today, Linkerd is nearing its graduation from the CNCF as a mature open source product. In its latest version, Linkerd supports multicluster Kubernetes deployments, providing a unified trust domain across clusters running in separate trust domains or even in separate environments.

Next, it will be time for Buoyant to build out an enterprise offering on top of Linkerd. In the works: a multicluster Kubernetes platform that will enable customers to manage a ‘fleet’ of clusters.
