Data security and protection technologies generally focus on two phases: data at rest and data in motion.
Dasera extends this limited focus to the full lifecycle of structured and semi-structured data security in the enterprise, from data creation to ETL or ELT into data warehouses or data lakes to the usage of the data and finally, to the archiving, backup, and deletion of those data.
The problems Dasera addresses include misconfigurations, incorrect permissions, data sprawl, data misuse, and addressing data security and protection issues at cloud velocity.
Among the data misuse issues Dasera helps address include privacy violations and unauthorized data exfiltration, but the vendor also identifies and mitigates incorrect retention policies.
Dasera also provides compliance tags that identify particular data as falling under compliance constraints including GDPR, PCI, and other regulatory contexts.
