Tetrate: Cloud-Native, Application-Aware Connectivity

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Service meshes abstract microservice endpoints, providing configurable connectivity between microservices within Kubernetes clusters. However, service meshes don’t handle integration between microservices and endpoints outside the cluster, leaving it to API gateways.

Tetrate solves this problem by providing abstracted, policy-driven connectivity among hybrid IT endpoints – microservices as well as APIs and other integration endpoints across multi-cluster, multi-cloud, and hybrid cloud, extending cloud-native integration to the enterprise IT and cloud SaaS landscapes.

Beneath Tetrate’s declarative abstraction, the vendor supports multiple protocols, including several native database protocols.

Tetrate also proactively addresses security considerations, offering zero-trust connectivity for microservice interactions.

As a remarkable side benefit, the vendor also supports seamless traffic shifting, making multi-cloud failovers as simple as clicking a button.
