Kintaba: Shifting responder involvement left for incident resolution

Kintaba Intellyx BCAn Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since our last coverage of Kintaba in 2020, the startup has been recruiting like-minded partners and customers to help flip the script on the current organizational norms of incident management.

Many IT service management, observability and issue reporting tools drive system-level events as the originators of alerts, with IT operators and SREs as the recipients of issues that have already manifested in the incident management dashboard.

Kintaba instead focuses its workflow on rallying responders to any human- or system-reported incident, by also bringing in relevant leaders, software developers, and service and support teams who may be closer to customer-facing functionality. The goal is to identify, document and resolve more Sev2 & Sev3 issues earlier in their lifecycle, so that fewer will escape into Sev1 firefights.

Speaking of promoting human-centric resolution practices, the firm is organizing and co-sponsoring an intriguing bill of independent experts for a one-day virtual “IRconf – The Incident Response Conference” on April 1, 2022.
