Voltron Data: Championing Apache Arrow for High Performance Data Analytics

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

The open-source Apache Arrow project has become the de facto standard for efficient in-memory columnar analytics and low-overhead data transport, essential capabilities for high performance data analytics, especially in distributed cloud environments.

Voltron Data shepherds the Arrow project, along with the Ibis open-source Python framework for accessing data and performing analytical computations, as well as a few other projects.

Voltron’s business model at this time is entirely focused on offering support to users of the open-source projects.

The company does not want to build a cloud-based SaaS offering (as many open-source vendors do), as it doesn’t want to compete with the software vendors that leverage Apache and Ibis in their products.
