Voltron Data: Modular, Standards-Based Data Processing Engine Offering Massive Scale

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

When we last covered Voltron Data in August 2022, its focus was driving several data analytics-related open-source projects, including the Apache Arrow standard for data transport, the Ibis Python framework for accessing data, and a few others.

Voltron’s strategy became clear with the recent launch of Theseus, its standards-based data processing engine.

Theseus delivers massive scale for high-demand data processing tasks by leveraging GPUs and hardware accelerators. It is fully open-source standards-based, empowering customers to leverage Theseus directly with code, rather than via an API or user interface.

Theseus is remarkably modular, supporting any programming language, database, data warehouse, data lake, or AI application. Voltron is taking advantage of this modularity to evolve Theseus as it updates its various components.

Theseus is best suited for large enterprises with massive data analytics scalability requirements, especially when those organizations have reached the limitations of Apache Spark.

However, given the explosive interest in AI (generative AI in particular), we expect Voltron’s addressable market to grow substantially over the next few years.
