Cerby: Buyer-side RPA for managing multi-app access

CerbyAn Intellyx BrainCandy Brief

Like a vacuum brush in an information-driven organization, each employee will eventually adhere unto itself an unmanageable hairball of logins to various apps and SaaS accounts with little oversight from IT. Let’s face it, business units and end users will never stop selecting their own tools, so we’ll always need to deal with the security gaps such access creates.

Cerby takes a soft-touch approach to this challenge, with a monitoring agent and automated identity management solution that seeks to respect the autonomy of these individuals who are just trying to get their work done. Their RPA-like workflow can provision access to multiple apps, suggesting (and enforcing where necessary) improved employee risk mitigation practices, account setup, and login behaviors to better protect the organizations they work within.

Enterprises can keep their own SSO and identity providers, but with the multi-party nature and frequent acquisitions inherent in today’s companies, it’s nice for employees to know how to improve their personal security postures in the context of the greater org, especially if there are multiple identity providers.

Further, from a responsible corporate citizen perspective, it’s also nice to know if the company already has an enterprise account they can get a login for – before they go Rogue IT and buy more tools on their own credit cards.
