Northern Light: Adding Generative AI to Competitive Intelligence Platform

When we last covered Northern Light in January 2018, it was using machine learning to summarize documents for its competitive and market intelligence knowledge management platform.

Today, the company has improved upon this use of AI by incorporating generative AI for improved search results and a better search experience overall.

Northern Light also uses retrieval augmented generation (RAG), an AI framework for retrieving facts from multiple data sources to deliver accurate, up-to-date information, thus addressing the ‘hallucination’ problem that the large language models behind generative AI suffer from.

Since the platform pulls information from hundreds of public and private data sources, this modern approach to search and summarization provides Northern Light’s enterprise customers with the competitive and market intelligence they require.
