I first mentioned Mavenir in my December 2020 article on Open RAN, an open standards-based approach to implementing radio access (i.e. mobile) networks on general-purpose hardware. Open RAN provides both an open architecture as well as a virtualization layer that separates Open RAN software from its underlying hardware.
Mavenir has been a champion of Open RAN since its early days. Adoption of the standard has been slow to take off but is now becoming a dominant approach in the mobile network operator space.
Mavenir’s cloud native architecture brings web-scale economics to telcos, enabling them to embrace disruptive technologies like Open RAN while driving automation and AI for network optimization.
