Teleport: Infrastructure Defense in Depth against Compromised Identity

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

When we last covered Teleport in April 2023, the company focused on delivering secretless access to server and cloud-based resources, including ephemeral Kubernetes services.

Today, Teleport has expanded its offering to a platform providing on-demand, least-privileged access to infrastructure, leveraging cryptographic identity, zero-trust access, secretless authentication, as well as identity and policy governance.

Teleport addresses four core problems: engineer and workforce productivity, identity attacks on infrastructure, compliance with security and identity-related regulations, and delivering infrastructure defense in depth.

Infrastructure defense in depth comprises per-session MFA, enforced MFA for admin actions, and mandatory MFA enrollment, as well as web authentication, configurable access requests to resources or roles, and enforcing dual authorization for privileged roles.
