BMC Helix: Leveraging AI to Migrate Remedy Customers to BMC Helix ITSM

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

We’ve covered BMC Helix many times over the years, both when it was part of BMC Software as well as after the companies separated. In June 2025, I wrote how the company was rolling out several AI agents in support of its AIOps capabilities.

In addition to these agents, BMC Helix has a different, perhaps less flashy application of AI that it is uniquely qualified to offer: Remedy migration.

Remedy was a leading IT service management (ITSM) tool in the 1990s. BMC Software acquired Remedy in 2002, when it became the foundation of BMC’s ITSM offering.

One of the reasons Remedy was a market leader in its day was its ease of configuration. As a result, Remedy customers would often make many modifications to the base platform to meet their particular needs.

Now that Remedy is legacy technology, organizations are struggling to replace it, in large part because of those customizations.

To help address this challenge, BMC Helix leverages AI as part of its Remedy migration service.

BMC Helix identifies and documents all customizations – both configurations and integrations – and then designs and implements the migration to BMC Helix ITSM.

This practical application of AI both lowers the risk of such migrations while preserving valuable business logic and accelerating the migration process.
