An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
The first rule of cybersecurity is to keep all of your software up-to-date – especially the firmware and operating system code that everything else depends on.
For Internet of Things (IoT) devices, keeping such low-level code updated is difficult, as the devices are numerous and scattered. Furthermore, the update process itself is vulnerable to compromise.
Foundries.io solves these problems with its open source, open specification IoT platform that enables organizations to install and update software on IoT devices securely over the air (OTA).
The Foundries platform works at the firmware and operating system, following the open specifications that every IoT device vendor can follow.
The platform also supports the security capabilities on the devices, for example, the installation and rotation of security keys.
The embedded Linux operating system supports the use of containers, enabling IoT applications to run on the secure platform while participating in cloud native IoT architectures that offer both scalability and rapid updates.
