Tricentis: Automated Testing from Traditional Enterprise Development to DevOps

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Tricentis bills itself as a continuous testing tools vendor, but in reality, continuous testing is only part of what they offer. In reality, they offer enterprise-class test automation tools.

Automated functional software testing has been around since the 1990s at least, but for the most part, such automation amounted to the execution of test scripts – scripts that people had to write manually.

Tricentis goes well beyond automated script execution with a model-driven approach to test creation, thus abstracting the test plans themselves. As a result, an organization can maintain a single model as opposed to hundreds or thousands of test scripts that try – but usually fail – to cover every possible combination of test values.

Furthermore, Tricentis is able to test a wide variety of different types of applications, from web-based apps to a range of legacy enterprise applications that lack modern software interfaces. This diversity of supported application type is why we call Tricentis enterprise-class.
