Neura: An AI Engine Enabling “User Awareness” to Transform the Customer Experience

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

How can organizations use data to enhance the customer experience and engage with their customers or constituents at the just the right time and in just the right way? That’s the big question that AI-company Neura is trying to answer.

The company believes that the key to this type of enhanced engagement is for organizations to become what it calls “user aware.” It helps its clients do this through a software development kit (SDK) that enables them to connect their applications to the Neura AI engine. In so doing, they create sophisticated models of the user’s behaviors and activities.

As the Neura AI engine learns more about each user’s habits and preferences, it enables the application to create personalized experiences and adapt to the user’s specific desires and preferences. The company uses a collection of data points about location, proximity, and activities gleaned from its embedded mobile client, wearable and other IoT-type devices, and various other channels to create detailed models of user behavior.

These user models can then, for instance, automatically identify when the user is at work versus at home, discriminate between running to catch a bus versus running for exercise and when activities are occurring as part of the user’s regular routine or are out of the ordinary. The company’s engine then enables applications to leverage that insight to engage with them in a way that is meaningful and useful in the moment. The company sees a wide-range of application opportunities in areas such a digital health, the smart home, transportation, and retail, among many others.
