An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
Since I last wrote about Pega in December 2017, the vendor has continued to move the ball forward in the various markets it competes in, including business process management (BPM), case management, low-code, customer relationship management (CRM), and robotic process automation (RPA).
The unifying principle across all of these market segments is automation.
While the company recognizes RPA as a transitional technology that addresses some automation tasks involving legacy technologies, the bigger picture for Pega is an architectural approach to process automation it calls the Situational Layer Cake (SLC).
With the SLC, organizations can create generalized processes, and then derive more specific ones from the general cases in a straightforward, code-free manner. For example, an insurance company may implement a claims management process, and then derive state-specific instances of the process without having to duplicate work from state to state.
The SLC architecture enables Pega to bring together its various product lines under Infinity, its brand for a newly unified portfolio that better meets the dynamic automation needs of its customers.
