An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
Terbine offers a marketplace for both public and proprietary data streams. The company is working out the complexities of pricing and transactions for such data, but where it differentiates itself today is how it metadata-enriches those data feeds that lack such metadata.
Internet of Things (IoT) data feeds in particular are typically devoid of metadata, thus appearing to a consuming application as near-meaningless ones and zeroes. With Terbine’s metadata enrichment, companies and government agencies can now leverage third-party IoT sensor data in a straightforward manner.
Use cases center on current IoT areas of innovation, including factories, power plants, smart cities, and insurance applications. Also in the works: a platform that will run at the near edge (namely, cell tower mini-cloud data center facilities). This platform will be able to metadata-enrich and market 5G data feeds as well.
