Propel offers a broad suite of PLM (product lifecycle management) and QMS (quality management system) tools in a unified SaaS platform that leverages Salesforce Cloud as its portal layer.
To date, most PLM solutions have been monolithic engineering-focused systems used by manufacturers for material and part specification, largely at design time. Getting feedback from sales and service field teams on customer demand and maintenance difficulties into that design silo is proving to be a major challenge to supply chains, especially for complex products in a digital-first marketplace.
Propel is seeking to bring a full-circle product lifecycle to more business users through the familiar Salesforce interface. Companies can still use the PLM design-time features, but there’s also modules for quality assurance and compliance, customer feedback, maintenance projections, support tracking, projections, supplier and parts management, demand inputs, catalog outputs, and more.
Businesses can turn on these PLM features separately and use them with or without being Salesforce customers — however, it’s clear to see that by building on Salesforce’s CRM, customer service, analytics and collaboration platforms, this suite might make a business turn its product designs more nimbly to respond to surprising market conditions and supplier challenges.
