Shoreline: ‘Robotic Remediation Automation’ for DevOps Engineers

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we first covered Shoreline in February 2021, the company has shifted its messaging to incident remediation automation for DevOps engineers, following an approach similar to robotic process automation (RPA).

Shoreline provides for RPA-like automation for any command line command in a Linux environment. The focus of this automation is ‘day 2’ production operations, empowering DevOps engineers, in particular system reliability engineers (SREs), to build automated remediations for both common and uncommon incidents.

Shoreline leverages a growing library of pre-built bots, both from within the company as well as from customers. Shoreline formats these bots as HashiCorp Terraform modules, thus extending Terraform’s popular ‘day 1’ provisioning automation approach to production operations.
