InfluxData: Rebuilding its Time Series Database for Real-Time Use Cases

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

We’ve been covering InfluxData for years, starting in November 2019 with an update in January 2022.

This year, the company has rebuilt its time series database from the ground up to support real-time use cases, including real-time analytics and edge computing.

The database now supports unlimited cardinality (the range of possible values in each column) as well as in-memory processing for fast queries without the need for indexing.

The company has also expanded its deployment options, offering a managed serverless configuration, a cloud dedicated option, an on-premises clustered configuration, and a single node for local or edge deployment.

The edge configuration runs on any powered processor, bringing the real-time power and speed of InfluxData to data and compute-heavy edge use cases like AI inferencing.

Since all IoT/far edge data streams are business-critical and inherently consist of time series data, running InfluxData’s real-time time-series database on the edge brings power and flexibility to such applications.
