An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
A lot has changed since we last covered Couchbase in August 2021. In particular, the company recently added its Capella columnar service to its database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering.
While Couchbase had already built its database to support operational application workloads, the addition of columnar capabilities enables it to provide real-time analytics as well.
The result is a DBaaS that handles both operational and analytics capabilities for the same data – an achievement that stands out among mature database products on the market.
This combined capability is also well-suited for supporting the data needs of machine learning or other AI applications. In addition, Couchbase is adding generative AI capabilities to its DBaaS to help engineers build AI applications.
