Application Performance Management
The Application Performance Management (APM) space is now a mature vendor category, but one that is constantly adding new functionality to monitor, measure and optimize the scalability, resilience and responsiveness of extended applications, from the execution time of the application server or codebase itself when exposed to load, to the database request/response time, to the network travel time of any request and response pair. APM goals are often set for compliance and contractual reasons as SLAs (service level agreements).
